Fat 101 NEW 29Apr2010
It has been a whole week since I last posted, and I apologize for that. I promise you though, this next edition to Mind n Body is a real treat.
I will summarize the Fat 101 article to wet your appetite, but in order to get the whole slice of pie, click Fat 101.
Has fat been a royal pain in your butt? Has it been in control of you, instead of you in control of it? The problem with fat and understanding what it is, and what it does is NOT YOUR FAULT! It is the shameful fault of those that we have been lead to believe have our best interests at heart. But this is just not true. There are so many saturated fat lies out there, cholesterol lies, what we are supposed to eat and what not, and others that it makes me sick.
My buddies grandfather lived to be over 95 years old, and took his last breath while chasing an escaped animal on horseback. He ate steak and eggs with RAW milk every day for breakfast, real whole butter with bread, potatoes, pot roast, pasta, corn and other things frowned upon today for dinner, and was skinny as a rail. What was his secret? He drank lots of water, was on his feet and working from sun up til sun down, and stayed away from processed foods. I don’t even think he had any cavities in his teeth!
So stay with me here, and read Fat 101. See how you can understand and reclaim control of your health if you only revert back to the ways before scientists tried to play God. Together we will learn how to lose weight fast and safe, and keep it off for good.

This article is the next step towards understanding the placebo effect. I know I seem to be beating a dead horse here, but trust me, if you stick with it we will get to the truth very soon.
I hope you are all as excited as I am, the topic of placebo can induce major breakthroughs in your progress. Understanding that your issues may or may not even be your fault is enlightening to say the least. Once this knowledge is acquired, then we can begin to make real changes, both mentally and physically.
Several tests are listed in “Believe, Perceive, Repeat” that will convince you that what I am saying is true, and also very beneficial. Go ahead and try them out for yourself, the results might surprise you.

Eyjafjallajokull
Holy Cow! Eyjafjallajokull, what a name for a volcano. My spell-check is going crazy over this word.
I do not watch television very often, so imagine my surprise when my internet surfing is covered with stories about European flights being canceled, volcano’s erupting, and chaos. With almost 100,000 flights eliminated, you can imagine the dent it will do to the travel industry. Already there are reports of OVER a billion dollars in losses, and much more to come. Many people are complaining that not enough is being done, and not enough has been done to prevent these types of delays. Anger always foolishly results in these situations, what do they expect, fast food service? “Hey God, please hold back the natural disasters, because I’m late for my golf outing.” Sorry, I’m just trying to lighten the mood.
An odd weather situation (pressure) is currently holding the plume at bay, above the Britain landscape. This should be normal for the English, considering they are notoriously foggy.
What is even worse is that the neighboring volcano, Katla, is feared to be triggered by this first eruption. This second one is even bigger than Eyjafjallajokull, and the two seem to have some sort of connection. Tremors and other seismic activity have been escalating in the area, I hope everyone plays it smart if things become worse. By that I mean, I hope that people do not choose to stay in their houses in spite of events. During just about every wild fire, there is someone standing outside his home with a garden hose and buckets of water…
Speaking of water, the people of Iceland had to evacuate their farms because of the dense layers of ash that has polluted the water and land. The volcanic powder has mixed with open sources of water, making it unsafe to drink. Also, the thick layer makes grazing near impossible for livestock.
More than one plume has emerged, and each thwarting any hopes of getting off the ground for many people. None of the latest have been as strong as the first, but it is anyone’s guess as to when they will stop.
What could happen if a second full-scale eruption takes place? Inevitably more plumage and smoke, followed by more flight delays. Faith in the current travel system seemed to be quite stable after the previous 9/11 disaster and its affect on flying. Who knows what this will do? I have heard that even major sports events are needed to be rescheduled, which equals more financial loss.
I conclude this by saying that my heart is with everyone that is stranded. I am confident that they will eventually be able to figure out a solution that best suits everyone’s needs, it just might take a little longer than desired. So in the meantime please be patient, I recommend Sudoku to help pass the time. (free online at that link)

We sure have a doozy tonight ladies and gentle people. Care to entertained by other peoples stupidity? Check out the latest edition to Stupid is, Stupid Does that will make you laugh your butt off.
I always knew that there were a lot of people without common sense, but I assumed that it was a pretty well kept secret in this country. Now that I have been in retail sales for awhile, my eyes have been opened to the truth. Stupid must be like an infectious disease, because it is spreading like wild fire.
There, now I got me little rant off, now I can point you to the article titled “Jellyfish“. Go ahead and click the link, and enjoy. Please keep in mind that this level of dumb is almost a daily norm. My little pad of paper is full of these types of stories, and it can be overwhelming.
Flush it Fast NEW 15Apr2010
Flush it Fast is actually a combination article about Flushing and Fasting. It is the ninth in the Mind n Body series, and fits right in. With all of the hype and hooplah about flushing, cleansing, and fasting, how does one know where to go? There are tons of places out there offering secret “Total Cleansers” for hundreds of dollars, but why waste the money?
In this article I try to clear up some mis-used terms and words in this area, and hopefully point you in the right direction. There is no need to buy all of the products out there when there are plenty of natural teas and drinks that you can make yourself, and for a fraction of the cost. Are you excited yet? I am!

Madeleine
I recently met a lady name Madeleine. We have not met in person, but have been conversing through our blogs. We comment back and forth, kind of like a blog tag for about a month, and I would like to tell you about her.
In my mind, I think that Madeleine is a remarkable human being. When the average person has a problem or issue, they tend to shy away from it and cover it up. Not Madeleine, she has decided to share her most painful issue, which happens to be her weight, with all of the world through her writing. She has chosen to face her problems head on, not run away from them.
From Fat to Svelte is the name of her blog, and there she is documenting her progress in losing that weight. I must admit, I doubt I would have the courage to do the same thing if I were in her shoes. Madeleine is a very brave person, and she deserves a lot of credit and praise for her efforts.
Now, I think it is our responsibility to show her our support, and also to hold her to goals. 220 pounds down to 120, I know she can do it. I would say for her height 130 would be fine, but that is my opinion only. She will lose weight, and keep it off, because of our support.
I will do my best to post more articles in the Mind n Body category, especially tackling weight and diet issues.

Mongo NEW 12Apr2010
The most popular tabbed category on this site: Stupid is, Stupid does, has yet another addition to it. I am so excited, this one is very funny. It happened almost 12 years ago, but I remember it as if it were this morning.
To give a brief teaser summary, this story is about Mongo, an old navy buddy of mine. A kind and gentle soul, but big and strong as an ox. In good fun we used to tease each other and pull all sorts of pranks and jokes. Mongo was no exception to the rule, even though he could kill us with a mere flick of his hand. My next article is about one of these pranks that we pulled on him.

Pain Control NEW 31Mar2010
The highly anticipated Sixth edition to the Mind n Body series is finally here. Keeping up with my format, going back and forth between mind and body issues makes Pain Control next in line.
I chose this topic next because I believe that pain is a major factor as to why most people stop exercising. Either pain from being sore, or body aches, joint pain, muscle tightness, or even mental pain can be very discouraging. There is no point for me to continue this series if you cannot overcome your pain first. It is essential for you to gain control over yourself, mentally and physically, in order to achieve maximum success… in ALL things. (not just exercise)
So please, take your time, and read Pain Control very carefully, and follow my suggestions as closely as possible. Enjoy
